Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is an annual project sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse.  OCC provides gift-filled shoe boxes for children in over 95 countries. Each shoe box gift is more than a way for children to experience the joy of Christmas. It’s a way to introduce boys and girls to God’s greatest gift, Jesus. This program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project that reaches out to suffering children all over the world.

At Southminster we normally pack our shoeboxes together. Individual members will provide items to pack in boxes. Then the children will gather together to pack each shoebox from the items collected. We then deliver the boxes to the collection center. Click here for a list of items you can begin collecting now.

If you prefer, you can pack your own shoebox. Boxes are due at the collection center usually by the weekend before Thanksgiving.

You can volunteer at the processing center in Charlotte. You must be at least 13 to check boxes. Find more information on how to volunteer at www.samaritanspurse.org.

In October and November, you can pick up your supplies, assemble your shoe box(es), and follow the guidelines provided.  Deliver your packed box(es) to the collection center at Parkwood Baptist Church by November 24.  You can also volunteer to check boxes at the processing center in Charlotte. You must be at least 13 years old. More information is available at
